A man phones Soho Lingerie, and tells the sales woman, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife"

What type of bra?" asked the saleswoman.

"Type?" inquires the man. "There is more than one type?" 

"Yes," said the saleslady, there are thousands of bras in every shape, size, colour and material. "Actually, there are really only three types of bras," replied the saleswoman

Confused, the man asked what the types were.

The saleswoman replied "The Catholic type, the, Salvation Army type, and the Baptist type. Which one do you need?"

Still confused the man asked, "What is the difference between them?"

The lady responded, "It is all really quite simple. The Catholic type supports the masses, the Salvation Army type lifts up the fallen, and the Baptist type makes mountains out of mole hills.”

Some Lingerie Terms Explained, Part 1

For those who don't know their babydolls to their push-up bras then this small glossary is for you.

Babydoll:

A babydoll is a short nightgown or negligee intended to be worn as nightwear which usually has matching panties. Often trimmed with lace, ruffles, bows and ribbons, optionally with spaghetti straps, the babydoll sometimes is made of sheer or translucent fabric like nylon or chiffon or silk.

Demi or shelf bra:

The demi or shelf bra covers only the lower half of the breast and is used to give a lift to the breasts, but does not create cleavage. The demi or shelf bra is ideal for low neckline clothes.

Push-Up Bra:

The push-up bra lifts the breasts to create cleavage.

Underwire Bra:

The underwire bra contains metal wires in the lower edges of the bra cups which help support and lift the bust.

Bustier:

The bustier is a bra that is extended down  to the waist and looks similar to a corset.  A bustier provides bust support, and may also smooth or shape the waist. A bustier is often worn with garters and stockings and can sue straps or be strapless.
